Springhill Website Design Process

At Springhill, we believe it's best to lay things out clearly and plainly. Having a process is a good thing. The process of designing & developing a website is no exception, below are a few of the steps involved in getting a website up and running.

Step 1 - What is your vision and your requirements

Your vision, requirements, budget and time will determine much of what follows. That means a consultation by either email or phone. Some of things you can send via email are; 1) what type of business you have, 2) your target market, 3) your goals for a website, 4) add on tools you may wish to offer broswers and last but not least, 5) your budget. This will help us understand your company's unique requirements. Designing and developing a website is very much a collaborative effort.

Step 2 - How much will this cost?

Once we receive and understand your vision and goals, we will prepare a concept and quote based on your requirements. We will give you a low to high-end quote for the projected costs. The finaly invoice will be based on authorized work signed off along the process and the hours it has taken to execute the design and development. The goal is to keep costs to a minimum.

The final cost will also depend on how much is already in place that you can provide, versus what will need to be created on your behalf. You may have a logo that you want incorporated in the header, photographs to add, documents to link to and have done the copyrighting which may only need to be adjusted. If you want flash and video that too will affect the final costs. We only take direction from the person who signs the contract, and all changes or additions will have to be signed off on.

Step 3 - Starting the process

We will require a deposit / downpayment on the cost of the website. The cost breakout is 1/2 of the overall cost at the start of the project; 1/4 upon completion and 1/4 upon approval and going live.

Step 4 - How we do what we do

Once we receive you downpayment, we will prepare a proposal and basic design based on your intitial suggestions, direction and material supplied. At this stage we will review it together and we may suggest value added enhancements. This is the time where you may want to give us conceptual feedback and/or additions. Based on your feedback, we will execute your requests and prepare a proof.

Step 5 - Let's get going

You have approved the original proof, signed off on potential changes and enhancements, which means we are ready to design and develop your website. Once developed, we show you the final site development and you will have another opportunity make final changes which will be executed.

Step 6 - We're almost done

Upon completion, approval of the design and development of the website we will send you the final bill, with copies of approvals for any potential additions requested. Required 1/4 of balance.

Step 7 - The grand finale

You have signed off on the final design, development, content and enhancements. We've made the changes and you are ready to go live. We will require the final payment for work done. Upon receipt of the final payment we will either upload the website to your server for you (unless we have registered a domain and secured hosting for you), send you the html files via CD, or execute the website on your behalf and continue in the maintenance role if that has been requested and agreed to.
